National Research Council of Italy

CNR is Italy’s most prominent public research facility, with seven thematic departments, a network of institutes around Italy, and more than 8,000 employees.

The Department of Engineering, ICT and Technologies for Energy and Transport (DIITET) participates with the Institute for High-Performance Computing and Networking (ICAR), a branch of Naples, and the Institute of Informatics and Telematics (IIT), which both conduct research, technology transfer and high education in the area of AI.

ICAR is involved in different AI fields, i.e. cognitive systems for robotics, big data and image analysis, human-machine interaction and natural language interpretation.

IIT research activities develop along both foundational and applied AI-related topics, i.e., Pervasive and Decentralized AI, Social Explainable AI and AI for Industry4.0.
