HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (HU) is one of the largest Universities of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. One of the focus areas of the HU is digitalization. More than 2,000 students (full-time and part-time) are enrolled in Computer Science-related subjects.
The HU was one of the first Applied Universities in the Netherlands to adopt AI in its educational programs. Within relevant education such as the bachelor ICT, the HU also offers an Open-ICT program which has a progressive didactic working method in which there is a big focus on self-discovery and cultivation of a passion for ICT-related professions. The program won a prestigious prize of the Dutch Higher Education Premium in 2021. This new didactic working method will also be integrated into the Master Human-Centred AI.
The HU also has a knowledge centre that focuses on human-oriented development and digitalization of society and several research groups that work on AI and the ethics of technology. Locally the HU collaborates with technology partners. Insights from these partners and research projects around digitalization are used to enhance the educational programs including the development of the Human-Centred AI Master’s Programme.
